　　《海滨帝国》再现了美国禁酒令时期（1920-1933年）大西洋城这个海滨小城阴暗面的生存状况。《海滨帝国》的编剧是《黑道家族》的编剧特伦斯·温特，该剧根据作家Nelson Johnson的原著《海滨帝国：大西洋城的诞生，鼎盛以及堕落》(Boardwalk Empire:The Birth, High Times and Corruption of Atlantic City)改编。

　　住院医生朴诗温（朱元 饰）童年时在家暴中生活，同时患有自闭症和发育障碍，但在日后却凭超人的人体空间感悟力和记忆力成为韩国成元大学医术最精湛的儿科医生。他一直喜欢着漂亮机智的女医生车允书（文彩元 饰），不过暗恋多年一直未表白。小儿外科副教授金道韩（朱相昱 饰）是年纪最轻就获得资格认证的实力派，他对医术精益求精，不容本科医生出半点差错，哪怕对方是德高望重的前辈，他都一视同仁。面对诸多诱导，他都不肯离开环境恶劣的小儿科，因为他心中藏着童年永远抹不去的痛。企划室长俞彩京（金敏瑞 饰）是美国斯坦福大学的海归，看似无所畏惧的她內心却有着幼年母亲去世、父亲再婚带来的伤痛记忆......
